Billing
Kareela Family Practice is committed to delivering the highest standard of healthcare. To support this, we introduced a 2-tier, time-based, private billing system in July 2024.
We believe that charging based on consultation time enables us to provide more comprehensive care. To support our community, discounted fees continue to apply for pensioners and children under 6. Please note: each patient must have their own appointment.
What Remains Bulk-Billed
The following services will continue to be bulk-billed:
- Annual Health Assessments (age 75+)
- Chronic Condition Management Plans and their 3-monthly reviews
- Flu and COVID-19 vaccinations
Nurse Appointments
Appointments with our nurses (where a doctor is not required) will also be time-based and privately billed. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer these services without a fee.
About Consultation Times and Fees
You may book a standard consultation (less than 15 minutes), but if your appointment runs longer, billing will reflect the actual time the doctor needs to complete your health care. Whilst you may exit the consulting room just prior to a timestamp, the doctors continue to write their clinical notes, send SMS prescriptions or pathology etc. This additional time will be reflected in their billing. Some appointment types—such as antenatal visits, mental health care plans, and others—may attract a different fee. Please speak to our reception team for more information.
We understand that healthcare costs can be challenging. If you're experiencing financial difficulty, please speak confidentially with your doctor.
